Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data exotic.hosting collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you. It applies to this website and to the email the site sends.

Account data. If you register, we store your display name, email address, a hashed password, and whether your email address has been confirmed.

Contact form. If you contact us, we store your name, email address, the subject, the message, and the IP address and browser user-agent string from which it was sent.

Submissions. If you submit a listing, we store the information you provide about the provider, including any verification details such as test addresses or file locations. Verification details are used internally and are not published.

Technical data. Server logs record requests, including IP addresses, timestamps and requested URLs.

Personal data is used to operate the site: to maintain your account, to respond to enquiries, to assess and publish submissions, to send service email such as address confirmation and password resets, to maintain security and investigate misuse, and to comply with legal obligations. Where you have opted in, your email address is also used to send updates about the site.

The site sets cookies to maintain your session, to protect forms against cross-site request forgery, and to remember your display preference. A persistent sign-in cookie is set only if you select that option. Cloudflare sets a cookie in connection with the bot check described below.

Most browsers allow cookies to be blocked or deleted. Blocking them may prevent parts of the site from functioning.

We use third parties to provide parts of the service. They process data on our instructions and for no other purpose:

• Cloudflare provides a bot check on the sign-in, registration and contact forms. It receives your IP address and browser information for that purpose.
• Resend delivers email and stores the mailing list described below.

The contact and registration forms each include a tick box offering occasional email about the site. If you select it, your email address and name are added to our mailing list. You can unsubscribe using the link in any message, or by contacting us.

We may disclose personal data to our service providers, to professional advisers, where required by law or to respond to a legal request, to establish or defend legal claims, and in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case the recipient will be bound by this policy or a successor to it.

Account data is retained for as long as the account exists. Contact messages and submissions are retained for as long as necessary for the purposes set out above. Removed listings are retained in a deleted state so that the decision can be reviewed or reversed. Server logs are retained for a limited period.

You may delete your account at any time from your profile page. You may also contact us to request access to the personal data we hold about you, its correction, or its deletion, and we will respond within a reasonable period. Some data may be retained where we are required or permitted to keep it.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The site is not directed to minors and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Our service providers may process data outside your country of residence. Where that happens, appropriate safeguards are applied.

This policy may be updated from time to time. The date at the top of this page records the most recent revision, and continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of it.
